Curd is an animal product and more so as it has living bacteria in it, utmost care should be taken as to when and how to consume it.
You will be amazed to know how deeply and distinctly Ayurvedic texts mention about correct way of eating curd .So if you want to know the right way of eating curd, read this blog carefully.

1. Eating curd with Salt or Sugar.
Curd should never be consumed by adding table salt or refined sugar.
Does that mean we can't eat delicious raitas and sweet curd. But relax it's not that.
Curd can be consumed both sweet and savory but never by adding table sugar or table salt.Actually both salt and sugar are chemically refined and they literally hinder with probiotics and nutrients of curd.
So what to do?
don't worry all you need to do is replace table salt with rock salt or black salt and replace refined sugar with Jagger powder, honey or mishri.
If you are experiencing acidity, body heat, hair fall then sweet curd is better and if you face gas, body pains, indigestion then savory curd is better.

2. Eating curd at Night.
Curd has such an important part of our diet that many of us eat it at any time of the day, thinking that it will only benefit us,but that's not true.
As per Ayurveda, curd should never be consumed at night because when sun goes down the body's temperature is naturally down, mucus increases and curd is mucus causing so when consumed at night can cause blockage within the breathing pipe and also causes cold, cough, sinus, fever and constipation.
But if you badly have crave for something like curd in that case replace curd with Buttermilk (chaach).

3. Having curd in wrong combinations.
Combining curd with wrong foods causes the accumulation of toxins in body.
Two such common wrong combinations are Cucumber Raita and Boondi Raita.
Cucumber and curd are two opposite foods in their properties and combining them in anyway will damage your system from within, whose ill effects can be seen in form of skin problems and fever.
Boondi as it is deep fried in oil or ghee is not compatible with curd either and also makes you put on fat.
Well cucumber raita can be easily replaced with Bottlegourd ( Ghiya).
Some other wrong combinations are Curd&fish, Curd& Brinjal, Curd & Banana.

4.Eating curd in any season.
Curd is a food that should not be eaten in any season. It should be considered more like a seasonal food.
Ayurvedic texts clearly mentioned that the best time to consume curd is in summer season and worst time to consume it is in Rainy season.Eating curd in winter season can make it difficult for people suffer from asthma, cough, cold. So consumption of curd should be limited or avoided in winter.

Curd is a boon for people looking to gain weight but it should be consumed in moderation for people looking for weight loss.People suffering from skin problems and arthritis should eat curd more cautiously.
On an empty stomach eat 1 cup of curd with teaspoon of mishri, honey or jaggery powder mixed in it.Two three times a week is good enough to keep your gut happy.
Curd which is fresh, homemade, not kept in a refrigerator is best for consumption. Such curd greatly increases sexual power, strength, vigor and vitality. It greatly helps in relieving from constipation something which is missing in packet curds.
Super rich in Calcium, phosphorus, probiotics, amino acids and strength giving curd is Superfood. All we need to do is to consume in right way.
